fuel supply and ignition methods are different  (Dieselpartsworld) 2016-01-17

The difference between gasoline engine and diesel engine 2
2) fuel supply and ignition methods are different
Gasoline engine:
From gasoline pump gasoline, and from air considered cleaner air, the carburettor in formation of mixed gas, pipe by the intake manifold and into the combustion chamber of the cylinder, spark ignited.
Diesel engine
The mixing and combustion of the fuel is carried out in the cylinder. The high-pressure diesel oil is injected directly into the combustion chamber by the injector, and the air is mixed with the air, and the atomization gas is compressed and then burned.
Therefore, in the structure, the gasoline engine than the diesel engine more than a set of ignition system.
3) other differences
Compression ratio difference:
Compression ratio is the ratio of the volume of gas in the cylinder before and after compression. By mixing air and fuel, the engine converts heat energy into mechanical energy, which drives the equipment to work. Because the diesel knock free. So under compression than a comparable gasoline high (general, gasoline engine 8~10:1, diesel engine 16~20:1), so efficiency is high
